Summer Banking Institute (SBI)

What is the Summer Banking Institute?

The Ohio Bankers League is the trade association representing all banks in the State of Ohio and is host to SBI. SBI is statewide internship program that is designed to attract and retain diverse candidates from different academic backgrounds and immerse them in the banking industry by placing them as a student intern at a participating Ohio bank. This program has been offered for five years through the Ohio Bankers League, with 2022 being the first year the program has been offered statewide.

How does SBI work?

SBI pairs participating diverse candidates from Ohio colleges and universities with participating Ohio banks to provide an internship experience which offers academic and applied learning goals in a hands-on setting.
The program runs up to 14 weeks throughout the summer and includes a comprehensive curriculum, and paid internship experience designed to support students from beginning to end.

How does SBI support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?

SBI proactively promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in the banking industry and works to demystify the banking industry through collaboration, authenticity, and commitment.
