Ohio Congressmen Rep. Brad Wenstrup and Rep. Bill Johnson Not to Seek Additional Term in Congress

11/29/23

Recently, it was announced that two of Ohio’s Congressional Delegates would not seek reelection in 2024, Rep. Brad Wenstrup and Rep. Bill Johnson.

Rep. Wenstrup served in Congress since 2013 and currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In a statement from his announcement video Rep. Wenstrup said “I’m blessed with good health, and I look forward to fighting for truth, justice and the American way, in whatever I do in the future.” Rep. Wenstrup’s seat in Congress will be up for grabs at the end of his current term, ending in 2024.

Rep. Johnson was recently tapped as the next President of Youngstown State University, taking over after the retirement from University President and former Ohio State University Football Coach, Jim Tressell earlier this year. In accepting the position Rep. Johnson said in a statement “This is not a goodbye, however. I will continue serving in the House for several more months, and you will see no let up My offices are open and my staff remains ready to serve you.”

“Congressman Johnson and Wenstrup have been great advocates for the Ohio banking industry during their collective two decades in Congress” says OBL SVP External Government Relations, Evan Kleymeyer. Both were always available to hear from the OBL and their local bankers about issues impacting their communities back home. The OBL wishes them luck in the next chapter of their lives and thank them for their services to our country.”
