OBL Launches Banker Advocacy Network

09/02/26

To strengthen the Ohio Bankers League's grassroots advocacy efforts, the Government Relations Team is launching the Banker Advocacy Network. This program will help us quickly connect lawmakers with bankers who are willing to build personal relationships or already have trusted relationships with them.

How to Get Involved

Start by identifying any relationships within your bank that may be valuable connections with legislators. Then share those relationships with the OBL by contacting Anthony Lagunzad or by filling out this online survey.

Bankers who are interested in building these relationships are also encouraged to participate.

Who Do You Know?

Relationships that are particularly helpful include:

  • Family members
  • Long-term friends or personal connections
  • Business relationships
  • Political or campaign supporters
  • Legislators who work for your bank or serve on your bank's board

You can view you and your bank’s state and federal representation HERE.

What Does the Banker Advocacy Network Do?

When important issues arise, the OBL Government Relations Team may ask Advocates to:

  • Share OBL's perspective with their legislative contact
  • Help strengthen the relationship through occasional meetings or conversations
  • Provide updates to the OBL GR Team about relevant discussions, if any
  • Invite legislators to OBL events when appropriate (as easy as a text message or a phone call, when prompted)

Time Commitment

We respect that bankers have busy schedules. Requests will be occasional, but having a network of trusted contacts allows us to respond quickly when important issues arise.

Thank you for helping strengthen the voice of Ohio’s banking industry.
