Opening Keynote: Great Leaders are Never Self Made with Kent Julian Leaders everywhere have heard Coach Vince Lombardi’s well-known quote, "Leaders are made, they are not born." But are they as familiar with the thought that great leaders are never self-made? Kent Julian maintains that the best leaders are shaped by circumstances and environments - and even more - are shaped by other leaders who influence them. They are, in his words, never self-made. |

Fintech Transformers: The Rise of Primacy with Dave DeFazio In the ever-transforming battle for customers/members, fintechs seek to be the new rulers of the banking universe. And the tides have turned. From 2019 to 2022, digital banks have the largest growth rates of primary relationships. Now, for the first time ever, more consumers in the Gen Y and Gen Z age groups name a digital bank as their primary institution than all of the community banks and credit unions combined! Experience live demonstrations of the banking apps that are reimagining the definition of PFI as Primary Financial Interactions, instead of Primary Financial Institution, and changing consumer attitudes and banking behaviors. |

Next, we discuss other employee focused benefits such as PTO, tuition reimbursement, flexible work schedules and other compensatory and non-compensatory benefits. Strategic Planning at a Time of Uncertainty with Mikelle Brady The global pandemic is impacting the way that bankers are looking at their internal structure and staffing, how to best serve customers, and what services they’re offering. The strategic plan that was drafted even just a year ago needs a fresh look to determine what the renewed focus should be for the immediate and long-term future. Are there initiatives that must be reprioritized? Does the bank need to "catch up" with digital offerings? What do regulators want to see in a strategic plan? It’s time to take a fresh look at the strategic plan and what the pandemic impact is on the future. |

Closing Keynote & Lunch: The Five Trends Defining Community & Regional Bank’s Future with Thomas Hoenig Regional and community banks are under siege as regulatory and market trends challenge their business model. With each new regulatory rule, for example, their regulatory cost increase disproportionately compared with their larger rivals. Their cost of capital is higher than that of the largest banks and nonbank financial firms with which they compete, and is a serious disadvantage in providing new services to their customers. Surviving such challenges is a daunting task but can be done if they can level the regulatory playing field, manage costs as they adapt new services, and market their advantage in providing personal service within their region and local communities. |
