OBL Launches Grassroots Push Against CU Bill

The OBL has launched an intensive grassroots offensive against the latest state credit unions powers expansion bill - H.B. 415.

This week OBL Vice President of State Government Relations Dustin Holfinger urged members to use the OBL Online Grassroots System to contact their state senators and urge them to oppose this legislation.

"It is critical that all OBL members underline the industry's opposition to HB415," said Holfinger. "We have asked all OBL members to again let state legislators know we adamantly oppose this egregious power grab."

The bill is in the Ways and Means Committee chaired by Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) and has received one hearing. "We do not want it to receive a committee vote -- even considering the abbreviated Senate timeline this year -- so quick action is critical," emphasized Holfinger.

The OBL, in partnership with our colleagues at the Community Bankers Association of Ohio, has also held a series of meetings with key legislators including President of the Senate Keith Faber (R-Celina) and Sen. Peterson in the last three weeks.
